Franklin CDU-680 EVDO Rev A USB modem Available
The nice folks over at evdoinfo.com have informed me the Franklin CDU-680 Rev A USB modem is now available for purchase at their 3G Store.
Here are the specs:

- 1/3 of the size of previous USB Modems
- Built-in 64mb flash drive
- Built-in GPS
- Antenna Port for external antennas and amplifiers
- Windows XP/Vista, Mac OS X, Linux Connection Managers already loaded on installed flash drive (no need to carry a CD with you). Also, Getting Started PDF Pre-Loaded on flash drive.
- Full Mac OS X Connection Manager including GPS Support (FIRST and ONLY EVDO Modem to support GPS on Mac)
- Swivel USB Connector
- USB only Requires a Max of 500ma - NO need for a Y Adapter Cable, HOWEVER a Y Adapter cable is included to better help with positioning the CDU680 for better signal.

This modem looks very appealing for the reduced power requirements and size comparable to a thumbdrive. Definitely the smallest USB EVDO modem to arrive in the US. I checked the Sprint website and the device isn’t listed and I’m not sure if it ever will. I’d like to use my corporate discount to lower costs with Sprint, but if it’s not available, it’s good to know there’s other options.
