Now... about the USB727 from Verizon.

Verizon will be selling it for $149.99 after their $50 mail in rebate.

Folks who want to save $80 can get it for $69.99 after rebate, from http://3gstore.com

More info, here:

Just last week, Sprint and Motorola execs invited media on a short trip down Chicago River to demonstrate Xohm/Wimax speeds and handoff between towers.

I summarized the arstechnica article in a post on EVDOforums here:

http://www.evdoforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=39418&#39418

the part i want to emphasize on this comment thread is this:

"The bad news?
Xohm was originally scheduled to launch in Chicago, Washington, DC, and Baltimore by the end of 2007, but availability has now been pushed back to March or April 2008"

If you need broadband wireless... my opinion is go with EVDO because it is best implemented of all _current_ solutions in the U.S.

yeah, clearwire has been promising availability where I live for ages, now. There was supposed to be some kind of Intel employee beta program a couple of years ago, but I never heard anything more about it.

Still, I'm excited for WiMAX. Just have to wait for it to, you know, stop being vapor. :-)

That's a good question. Last time I checked Clearwire's site, they had coverage in select areas in Oregon. I'd check out their site to see if you're covered.

On 10/23, AT&T will be offering the Sierra Wireless 881U. This is the HSUPA version of the 875U. If you're in the coverage area, you'll get much faster upload speeds with that device. It's the same size as the 875U though, which is very bulky.

That's pretty sweet. I've been pondering getting the 875U HSDPA version, but an HSDPA version of this would be much better. Love the ability to add/read microSD.

But I'm on the fence - do I get a 3G card, or wait for WiMAX (Sprint/Clearwire's Xohm)? James and Kevin keep teasing me with the idea! :-)
