Here’s a quick video of the install. While I was setting up for this video, FedEx came again and dropped off the GorillaPod for SLR sized cameras. I stuck the Aiptek A-HD to it right away and used it in part of the video.
That’s why there’s so much noise. The GorillaPod is stiff, which is good, but it cause a lot of noise while bending the joints.

Jonathan Greene of atmaspheric endeavors has been cruising through the Mobile World Congress the past few days.
I’ve been following his tweets and notice he’s been broadcasting live footage from his Nokia N95 through qik.com.
One video that caught my attention is the Polymer Vision Readius. It’s a compact ereader with folding e-ink screen. Very cool. When the device is rolled up, it’s about the size of a cell phone.
I’m pretty excited. The Fujitsu U810 doesn’t quite fit snug in the dash compartment of my car, so I really needed a mount. This will definitely make it easier for using the U810 for GPS navigation, music, and lifestreaming/vlogging with the internal cam or Xbox Live Vision cam I attached to the dash.
Best of all? It’s only $15.95. (plus $29.99 for the ProClip vehicle mount).

I found a clone of the GorillaPod at Circuit City earlier, the Sunpak PicturePlus FlexPod. Man is this fun to play with. It’s like a puzzle. Forming the spider-like legs to bend and grasp to any form. Warning: You may look at your camera as a pet after connecting additional limbs. It kind of brings back the same feeling of playing with LEGOS.
I plan on mounting this in my car use to use when broadcasting on the road like Jeff Hibbard. Also will come in handy for games that support this cam when plugging it into the Xbox 360.
The drivers loaded up right away when installing through Windows Update on the PC.
It’s pretty much a standard 1.3 Megapixel webcam. Much better than the webcam included on the Fujitsu U810.
640×480 video is clean and smooth. $36.66 at Circuit City. Mobile post sent by Rodfather using Utterz. Replies.

This is sweet. Ever find yourself needing a tripod? I do all the time. Here’s the Manfrotto 797 Modo Pocket which folds out of its compact package for use as a camera stand. Claimed as the world’s smallest tripod, it’s small enough to be used as a keychain. I’ve been looking into more camera mount solutions, especially for my car. I think I’ll grab a gorilla pod along with one of these for those on-the-go or lifecasting situations.
It seems a bit more stable than yesterday. At least I can broastcast now. We’ll see how this goes. Looks to be very easy and straightforward to set up.
The CPU% load is around 50% when broadcasting on the U810. I would guess similar to ustream.tv.
There’s really not much info on this service. Are they automatically recording everything I broadcast?
